Ben Tunnicliffe is a bass player who's professional career began in his teens and who's achievements show he's as passionate exploring acoustic folk as he is reconstructing electronic music. Leading a group for the first time, Ben Tunnicliffe's Nowhere Ensemble perform compositions that employ Jazz improvisation, synthesizers and other unrepresented instruments in the pursuit of alien beauty. Pioneering the use of synthesizer as the bass instrument, Ben creates with his quartet an ethereal landscape that merges a low end similar to an organ trio with the forward-facing sonic possibilities of electronic culture.
On their first tour, Ben's grassroots approach will bring drummer Alex Goodyear, multi instrumentalist Maria Lamburn and a keyboardist to all corners of the UK, sharing an alien landscape that dares to stand alone amongst other synth-touched Jazz groups of today.
Big Hogg:
"Effortlessly blending particular strands of West Coast psych, 70’s funk and full on British Fairport folk rock, they offer an alluring and heady brew that also strongly retains their own unique mark and identifiable style." (MOOF)
