We're back at Rum Shack on Friday 1st March for the devilishly delightful Queer History of Goth, with the amazing @danse.macabre.glasgow

The Queer History project has spent a lot of time in the 1980s, showing how the death of disco's mainstream popularity led to a post-disco scene that took the blueprint of the sound and stripped it back to it's funky elements.

Cold synthpop, no wave dance-punk, euphoric Italo and bouncy electro all came together in what later became house and techno (the next chapter in the queer history story.)

The sound of Goth, already crystalizing in the late 1970s with the influence of post punk, took all of these, and birthed a subculture where traditional lines of gender, sexuality and identity were blurred.

Anddddd how could we delve into the world of Goth without inviting Danse Macabre along for the ride! As Glasgow's longest running goth disco, the duo have been bringing gothic, italo and post punk sounds to venues across the city, including Bonjour and Bloc, and creating a community of like-minded bisexual lighting lovers. We can't wait to bring them to the Rum Shack for a proper Southside queer bash.

Goth attire encouraged 🥰
