Get ready for the return of World of Twist’s vinyl dance party, a night of global groove heaters and shoulder shakers, with residents and local Southside selectors Jamo Kidd, How Bizarre and special guests Jawa Jones (Wanita Music) and Groovy Graeme (Helicon).
Expect to be taken on a musical journey of both old and new high-energy and rare groove sounds from across the globe, featuring exotic textures and hypnotic percussion from the Middle East, Southeast Asia, Latin America, Africa, and beyond!
Indonesian-born, and London based, @jawa_jones will be taking us on a journey through East Asia with her Pop yeh-yeh (Psychedelic Rock from Singapore and Malaysia), covers of Western Pop hits, and Japanese Kayōkyoku selections from the 60s and 70s. Jawa regularly hosts two music events: @wanitamusic, a female-focused vinyl night, and East Asia Beat at London’s world-class listening bar @spiritland.
Warming up the floor is "Groovy" Graham from Glasgow's Helicon, of @fuzzclubrecords. Brace yourself for an eastern psychedelic journey as Groovy's set promises a kaleidoscopic swirl of mind-altering sounds!
Residents @jamokidd @howbizarrerugs will be digging deep into the crate and spinning a diverse high-energy mix of SWANA Grooves and Psychedelia, to Japanese funk, Brazilian Tropicalia, Colombian Cumbia, Afro Funk, Disco, into sounds of the club underground.
Jump on the carpet ride and be transported to a warm, distant foreign land.
