Welcome back dancers. We're back for another string of parties over the next few months exploring different genres, artists and eras of the Queer History of Dance Music. We’ll be kicking our Winter Season off with a celebration of the origins and legacy of House and Techno. Not only are these genres the backbone of modern electronic music; they hold a special place in the legacy of the queer underground. Whilst House and Techno can now be heard across the world and in every context, these genres have deep roots in queer culture, emerging from marginalised communities in the late 1970s and early 1980s. Both genres were born in underground clubs and spaces where queer, Black, and Latino individuals sought freedom from societal oppression. For this special foray down history lane, we’ll be joined by our good pal and local legend Dilly Joints. With their Bi-monthly Loose Joints party at Berkeley Suite, Dylan has been at the forefront of Glasgow’s underground scene since 2016. Their roster of amazing guests from the UK and beyond includes Ok Williams, System Olympia, Parris, Toulouse Low Trax, and Identified Patient to name a few. With their vast musical knowledge and experience, they are the perfect guest to explore all things House and Techno - vast genres which encompass a lot of sounds. We’ll be diving deeper into the Queer History of House and Techno on a Special Research show on Clyde Built Radio on 29th September 11.00 - 12.00. See you on the dance floor!
