Kai Reesu EP Launch Party

The Kai Machine has Landed .

After three years in the making , the debut EP from Kai Reesu is being released and you're cordially invited to enjoy the full band in never before seen hyper polished glory .

We are pulling out all the stops - with guest features from Cara Rose, CRPNTR, ACEV!S!ON & Rebecca Mani . This show is going to be the largest we've ever put on , and we're bringing our friends from Modernistic to support .

Kai Reesu is a bombastic nu-jazz band that exploded on the Glasgow scene early last year . Blending elements of hip-hop , old skool jazz fusion and neo soul , expect a dynamic and unpredictable set , spanning multiple time signatures , guest appearances and vibes .

For this gig the outfit will comprise ;

Kai Trio (Paul Copeland , Robi McArthur , Matt Jim Sim )
Horn Section - Michael Butcher (of Tom McGuire & The Brassholes, Nimbus Sextet) & Harry Weir (of AKU!, corto.alto )
expanded rhythm section - Alex Palmer (Blue Giant Orkestra , MOY) & James Mackay (Unharm , corto.alto , Noushy)

with guest spots from the internationally acclaimed Cara Rose ; who combined forces with Kai to produce a live session of the tune 'Plutonium' ; the infamous gravelly Scottish bard himself CRPNTR hammered , fresh off writing a play and releasing music with Tues ; and Rebecca Mani - fresh to the Glasgow and UK neo-soul scene , Rebecca is sure to dominate in years to come with her soulful voice and deep lyricism .

Support will come from Modernistic - led by Ewan Johnston, Modernistic blend contemporary jazz, neo-soul and hip-hop to present flowing, organic and exciting music. Fronted by ACEV!S!ON & Gaia Jeannot , the outfit combines poetry, repetitive motifs and deep dramatic solo's . Many of the leading lights of Glasgow's new wave are in this band, such as Roan Anderson on Drums and Simon Herberholz on Tenor Saxophone, and both Gaia and Ewan were nominated for Rising Star at the recent Scottish Jazz Awards.

This will be an outrageous night of Glasgow hip hop and jazz community spirit , not to be missed .
