Welcome to Film Screening of Vanishing Sail: Scotland and Carriacou! Join us at The Rum Shack for an evening that celebrates the connections between Scotland and the Caribbean. Scottish shipwrights are said to have left Glasgow centuries ago and settled in the Caribbean island of Carriacou. Enjoy the captivating story of contemporary traditional boatbuilding in the Caribbean through this touching documentary film. Witness the craftsmanship and dedication of the boatbuilders in Carriacou as they strive to keep their ancient skills alive. Did you know that the community sings 'My Bonnie Lies Over the Ocean' when they launch their boats?

Enjoy an opportunity to have a Caribbean dinner and a drink at the Rum Shack and watch this beautiful film together. This event forms part of the 'My Bonnie Lies Over the Ocean' project that explores the links between Scotland and the tiny Caribbean island of Carriacou, supported by the Scottish Connections Fund through the Scottish Government.
