World of Twist is thrilled to welcome ANDY VOTEL (Finders Keepers Records) to Glasgow for his first Scottish show in over a decade! Join us on Saturday, 14th September at The Rum Shack for a night of global groove heaters, shoulder shakers, and distant rhythms where anything goes!

Andy Votel is a renowned DJ, producer, graphic designer, and record label founder known for his eclectic musical taste and relentless passion for unearthing forgotten gems from across the globe. His label, Finders Keepers, is celebrated for reissuing rare, obscure, and forgotten music, specialising in genres like psych rock, experimental, and world music. Finders Keepers has introduced global audiences to hidden treasures, with sought-after reissues from artists like Iran’s Googoosh and Turkey’s Selda. Compilations such as ‘Disco Dildar’ and ‘Thai? Dai!’ have enlightened listeners to the sounds of Pakistan’s teen movie synth-pop and Thai rock. With such a deep knowledge of music, it's no surprise that hip-hop producers like Jay-Z and Kanye West have come to Finders Keepers for samples.

Votel’s DJ sets are masterful blends of diverse genres and eras, creating a unique experience that bridges the past and present, intertwining musical cultures in a way that has earned him near-cult status. He has performed at legendary clubs such as Manchester’s Hacienda and at international festivals like Primavera Sound and Croatia’s Dekmantel Selectors.

You can also catch Votel regularly on his Randemonium show on NTS Radio, and his B-Music nights in Manchester, where guests like David Holmes and Gruff Rhys have joined him on the decks. Musically, Votel’s remix work includes collaborations with artists like Death in Vegas and The Avalanches.

Fresh from Kelburn Garden Party, hosts and local selectors, Jamo Kidd and How Bizarre, will be digging deep to bring you feel-good numbers from across the globe. Expect a journey through Middle Eastern, North African, and South Asian grooves and psychedelia, Cumbia, Bollywood, African Highlife, Disco, and spicy high-energy edits straight from the club underground.
