For our next party we'll be deep-diving into the sexy, weird and funky world of Prince. And along for the ride this time we have artist, DJ and photographer and not-so-secret Prince fanatic Matthew Arthur Williams, AKA Junglehussi.
Prince is one of the most influential musicians of all time, with a career spanning many decades and many genres including funk, disco, electro, classic rock and soul. His musical influence cannot be overstated. But with his embrace of the power of androgyny, his raw public sexuality, and lack of conclusion around his identity, Prince also created a space where queer individuals could see themselves reflected and embraced. Even after his death in 2016, Prince's legacy continues to inspire queer artists and activists to challenge norms and celebrate their identities authentically. Although the queer legacy of Prince is complex, with his often complicated and contradictory views developing with age, what cannot be denied is the space he created for fluidity and free expression in mainstream culture.
We’ll be playing the very best of Prince’s extensive catalogue - with more guitar solos than ever before - and also paying homage to the funk and disco sounds and scenes that influenced him. See you all there XXX
